According to a report by the Houston Chronicle, Riot Platforms, a major player in the Bitcoin mining industry, was compensated to the tune of $31.7 million by the Electricity Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). This substantial payment was in recognition of Riot's proactive measures to reduce their energy consumption during times when the state's power grid was under immense strain.
